Last chance to buy a guitar
Some of our lots didn’t meet the reserve during the live auction on Friday 12 September so we’ve made them available in a special timed auction which will close at 7pm on Friday 19 September.
If you missed out first time around, this is your chance to own a unique piece of art!
Please bid generously as proceeds will go to the Greater Manchester Grassroots Music Fund, managed by charity partner Forever Manchester.
Exhibition and Auction

Proceeds from the auction will go directly to the Greater Manchester Grassroots Music Fund, helping to support local grassroots artists.

See all guitar artworks displayed together for the first and only time at the People’s History Museum on 6-7 and 10-14 September.
Guitar Artwork and Murals
Musicians including Busted, Doves, Elbow, Mani, New Order, Oasis, PINS, and Pixies donated precious instruments which were displayed in windows and venues across the city, alongside 48 guitars which have been transformed into one-of-a-kind unique artworks.
Four brand-new murals from international street artists Lei Mai LeMaow, Nomad Clan, .EPOD and AKSE P19 were created and will remain as a legacy to the trail for the foreseeable future. Plus along the way, visitors could discover Manchester Music Mooch – an interactive journey through the locations of Manchester’s grassroots music community.
Installations
On King Street, Manchester artist Lazerian created Guitar Street – an interactive installation made from 40 donated guitars. Each one featured the stencilled face of a young, up-and-coming music artist from the city, all brought together in a powerful hanging exhibition.
Visitors could also step inside Lazerian’s Cathedral of Sound – a show stopping installation built from hundreds of reclaimed acoustic guitars, reimagined into a living, breathing sanctuary of sound. It appeared in St Peter’s Square (7–20 July), then moves to Mayfield Park (26 July–31 August).
