The Design a Guitar Competition invites schools, colleges and youth groups across Greater Manchester to unleash their creativity and contribute their voices to this city-wide celebration of art and music.
We’re calling on young people to get creative and come up with eye-catching, imaginative, and unique designs for an acoustic or electric guitar which will transform it into a stunning visual masterpiece.
We’re looking for bold, colourful, creative designs – designs that tell a story, represent your community or simply look amazing!

🎶 Her design draws inspiration from the music venues that shape our city, from @bandonthewall to @nightanddaycafe, @mattandphreds to @alberthallmcr.
Danielle has previously contributed to our 50 Windows of Creativity project in 2020, where her work was featured at @phmmcr as part of the citywide art trail. We are delighted to have her with us for our next Manchester art trail, #MusicForTheSenses.

We received hundreds of incredible submissions to our artist open call from across the UK (and even overseas!). A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to strum those creative strings and share your talent with us.
Next up, a panel of project representatives will review and shortlist the submissions before presenting them to sponsors at an exclusive event on Monday 19 May. At the event, sponsors will choose the design they’d like to feature on their guitar and the selected artists will be commissioned to turn their vision into reality.
The guitars will be displayed across Manchester for 8 weeks, from 7 July – 31 August 2025.
